Family photos around sunset during the height of summer can be tricky with little ones, but the end results are simply amazing! This lovely family was up for the challenge and their girls rocked it. I met Lisa and Jaime at the Ice Age National Park near Cross Plains about an hour before sunset. Its one of my favorite locations mainly for the diversity of backdrops and the amazing sunset views. I had a blast exploring and capturing their little family! They were so relaxed and up for anything. I think the girls really loved running around in wide open spaces and I got to fulfill my creative need for some sunset vibes 🙂

Hello world, meet baby Jack! It was so nice to meet this sweet, laid back family and their two adorable dogs too. That morning happened to be super dark and gloomy outside, and I was a little worried about the light. But it turned out perfect because I love how it gave some natural grain to their photos. The whole session was pretty relaxed and fun. Some of my favorite shots are the ones where the dogs are checking out their new little brother. Baby Jack wasn’t too sleepy for us… I think he dozed off for maybe 5 minutes total, and at one point all three of us had our hands on him trying to lull him to sleep. He just didn’t want to miss any of the action! Thank you Ashley and David for inviting me into your home to meet your little family.

Better late than never!! Last summer I challenged myself to take personal photos every day of summer, for 100 days. It proved to be quite a challenge. I admit there definitely were days where the camera didn’t make an appearance, either out of sheer busy-ness or laziness. And there were times when the boys (and my husband) would get annoyed whenever they saw the camera come out! Ha, sorry guys! But looking back now, I’m so happy to have our entire summer captured… from the big, fun events to the little moments in-between. This is exactly how I want to remember our summer. After all, it is my favorite season and the kids won’t stay young for very long. I plan to do another 100 day project this summer and maybe next year I’ll actually try a 365 project! We’ll see… 😉

Finally blogging this romantic, urban engagement session from August! Kaitlin and David are just the sweetest couple and were up for anything. It was a typical hot and sticky summer evening. We started out in Uptown exploring some alley-ways and checking out a (very popular) mural. Then we headed over to Lake Harriett to catch the sunset, and it was well worth it. They agreed to wade into the water and we had some fun. It was like recreating a scene from the Notebook <3 I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this June at the Surly Brewing Company. It’s sure to be a good time ~ Cheers!

What a fun change of pace for me… I absolutely love doing engagement photos! Molly and David are the sweetest, nicest couple ever and they were up for anything. Their love really shines through and I barely had to direct them to do poses, it just came naturally for them! Aww… I’m so excited to hear about your tropical destination wedding. Wishing you both many, many years of happiness <3
